i made this dress in 1999 from a thai batik that either pornpraha or my mom gave me.
comfort is key today

july 29th

late post eh?
just plain forgot even though i took the photo at 7am!
a dress from, believe it or not....1982
bought in a antique store in a victorian house in mt vernon iowa during my sophomore year of college at the svelte age of 20. it is a really great dress, just fits a little higher these days eh?
is it because i grew taller?, no, just broader. hey, i fulfilled my biological destiny and am a happy healthy human so there.

july 28th

the lazy days of summer

a polka dot skirt from h & m which i have been trying to wear
for 4 weeks but never can find anything that is working about it

july 25th

this am, late sleeping, garden snooping.
a linen tank i made in 1999 or 2000, a pair of benetton cropped pants from a thrift store in 2004
an armful of zinnias and sunflowers from the garden
one ripe fig, two raspberries, a half pint of beans, a pint of sungold tomatoes and one cucumber!

gutted it out and drove 10 hours plus home

did i mention the 5 hail storms rain battered grey outs i drove through in the western bear infested mountains of pennsylvania?

july 23rd

the last day at the lake.
it's a jumpsuit day for lulu and i.
here's uncle andy's pool.
we fished two frogs out of it before lulu swam.
i am using my pockets instead of a bag or purse.

july 22nd

today's look is:
a striped tunic from h & m and black leggings.
contrary to popular belief there is a santa, meaning i can sit on nana and doc's
front porch and pirate wireless!

posting from a pirated signal in jamestown ny.
sitting in my prius using my wireless feeling very 21st century.
clothes:
jeans, light weight, bought in 2007, tee shirt, $5 rack from gap in 2001?
staying in an 1880 wooden hotel on the lake with breakfast and diner included,
lake, playground, cool breezes.

july 20

this am finds us in morgantown wva.
i will be wearing the jumpsuit again this week so you will see more images, so will
lulu.
today we drive on to mayville, ny,

july 19

ready for this,
official jumpsuit number one, titled; doing things with lulu.
notice the features, two commodious cargo pockets, two long cargo pockets,
three small treasure pockets and a removable snap on back pack.
the print is made up of lulu drawings, scanned and created as a repeat then
printed on cotton twill. lulu has a matching one with her sketches in bright colors
on white.

remember, jumpsuits can be worn as often as i like!

july 18th

the look today is:
blue knit shirt from ? and black gap cropped pants bought in 2004

we go on vacation tomorrow and i may experience some technical difficulties so i
will be posting at weird times. or i may have to post-post or pre-post.

july 17th

the tomato plants are groaning under lots of green balls of differing sizes and types.
august-september will be my eat a tomato every day months.
i am wearing:
a black rayon twill dress which i made in 1996 from fabric i got when i was at perry ellis.
the pattern was a rub off of a vintage (50's) dress i used to wear.

size 14 which i have taken in twice...it still doesn't work.

july 15th

the day, warm, sunny. the task, sewing and sorting the piles for this project.
my sidekick is bored with me, she demands fun and play-mates, sometimes you
just gotta make do lulu.

july 14th

here is a poly voile top made from crazy fabric i bought in the souk in qatar.
levi's engineered jeans bought in 1998 after seeing all the groovy levi's engineered
stuff in amsterdam.

july 13

today's look.
a tee shirt which is true, for me.
a pair of linen culottes bought for $5 at the phoenix.
a silver bracelet from morocco, i used to wear armfuls of them
back in my exotic phase of 1989.
i have since sold all but one.

july 12

it's been two months! fear not, there are many more things to come...
lulu likes everything except the polo shirt and leggings a few days back.
help me out here, dos anyone have a statistical idea of how many garments
a human in the developed world owns?
i need to institute my system of how much i keep.
so, from 56 tee shirts to 15?
from 40 sweaters to 15? 20?
how many pants? 10, 20???
?
today's look is a skirt from h & m bought in 2003 and a recycled tee shirt bought in a nyc
gallery, a german artist whose name escapes me makes work about logos and logo absence
so the swoosh is in fact not a swoosh

July 11

for today:
a cotton voile printed top from h & m bought in 2007.
a pair of brown linen trousers from anthropologie bought in 2000.
a hot day in richmond today.

today's look:
my dad's old polo shirt and a pair of leggings. just sewing, weeding and tending people.

july 9th

almost two months! blessed rain all day today to sustain the tomatoes and veg.
the skirt, a denim skirt from levi's engineered line, bought new from need supply
in 1998. the back is pleated and fuller, but you can't tell that! the top from a sale rack at anthropologie from 2000.

july 8th

the look:
a green dress made from 4 yards of rayon knit jersey. stretched out to floor length.
and two bracelets my mom made. fashion. yeah, i am printing some odd and happy
things right now which will become garments soon, things like wet dog noses and
white cat fur stuck to black clothes.

july 7th

here we are with a few old favorites.
brown linen shirt from gap bought on sale in 2001 and a pair of cotton linen pants which i made in 2002 from my fave pattern.

back to the closet, and i found:
a silk crepe top i made in 1997 and a cotton eyelet skirt i made in 2001
exciting huh?

july 5th

hey, guess what?
yes it's the prototype jumpsuit. made this spring for the basic pattern and worn today as the antidote to my staring at the closet. today i really despise fashion and the whole system of producing acceptable cladding for the human. meanwhile my five year old leggy daughter is standing in view in an au courant fitted jean that she looks thirteen in, i don't know if i should burn them or be happy for her in her lithe strong youth.

july 4th

it's a hot summer day, lots of bangs and booms in our urban neighborhood.
i am wearing:
a pair of printed blue long shorts from boden, bought last spring.
a target tank top from last spring as well.

a skirt made in 2000 out of vintage cotton from the thrift store. a plain brown tee shirt bought at old navy in maybe 2003?

welcome to summer, the visits to the closet are getting longer but there are still many many things which need to be worn. i am making a jumpsuit for myself and lulu this week, we will debut them next week....
today's look is: an orange tee shirt
a skirt fabricated from a thrift store pair of chino pants and elaborated with pink and orange rick-rack.
