september 28th

weeding, canvassing the hood for obama, today i discovered a watermelon plant in the deep grassy mess of our wildflower patch with 5 babies of various sizes. maybe we will have more than one watermelon this year! canteloupes have been frequent all month along with lots of tomatoes. raspberries every few days and fall figs just coming in. wishin' for chickens.

it has been over four months now and i am still going strong. it has actually gotten easier
to do this the longer i go. i haven't spent a really uncomfortable day yet. now in the awkward transition from warm to cool i may have some strange hybrids, those last summer tanks and dresses vying with sweaters.
this is a vintage wool dress i bought in 1982 in iowa at an antique store, it is a subtle plaid.
i shortened it ages ago.
